Celtic and Rangers dominate proceedings

Celtic and Rangers are the main attraction in Scottish football and the February broadcast schedule reflects their dominance.

They feature in seven of the 17 games which will be aired next month, including both of their Scottish Cup fifth round ties against lower league opposition.

Five of the last-16 matches will be broadcast by the BBC or Premier Sports including the clash between Ayr United and Hibernian.

Ayr are going well in the Scottish Championship this season and will be eager to upset the odds against their top flight opponents.

Three of Celtic’s five Scottish Premiership fixtures in February are scheduled to be broadcast including their trip to Hibernian on February 22.

The Hoops are a long way clear of Rangers in the standings and should have little difficulty claiming their fourth consecutive league title this term.

Rangers’ visits to Hearts (February 16) and Kilmarnock (February 26) will be broadcast live and both games have the potential to be tricky.

The BBC will broadcast two Scottish Championship games next month – Morton vs Falkirk on February 21 and Partick Thistle vs Livingston a week later.

Scottish League One also gets a stint in the spotlight on February 22 as promotion chasers Stenhousemuir and Arbroath meet at Ochilview Park.

Inconsistency has been a feature of the third tier this term, setting up what promises to be a frantic battle to clinch a place in the Scottish Championship over the next few months.

Arbroath were beaten 2-1 at Stenhousemuir earlier in the season and will be gunning for revenge as they strive to win promotion out of Scottish League One at the first attempt.
