Andy Halliday has said this week that he is concerned James Tavernier could leave Rangers in the January transfer window.
Tavernier, 29, has scored a massive 14 goals from the right side of the defence – scoring six times from open play as well as laying on 10 assists. He’s actually priced at 3/1 with real money casinos to be Rangers’ top goal scorer this season which may well be worth a punt.
The former Newcastle who has 266 appearances for Rangers under his belt has 60 goals and 84 assists to his name.
Ex-Rangers star and recent teammate Halliday said that although he expects Tavernier to remain at Ibrox at least until the summer, he says there is a chance of an exit.
“Take away his penalties, he has still scored six goals,” Halliday said. “How can a team not be watching that. Everyone has their price, I think he would wait until the summer. But if a team sits down and offers double, triple your money – some people are going to get their head turned.”
Rangers are currently priced up at 4/9 with bookmakers and best online casinos to win the Scottish Premiership and that’s the closest they have ever been to winning the title since returning to the top tier in 2016.
In terms of a transfer away from the club, we must ask would Tavernier get the chance to play – and captain – a club that plays week in, week out in Europe? One where he is given freedom to score and create?
Tavernier is probably best suited to stay, and become a legend at Rangers.
